Morning all. Hope everything is going well for you. Not much has been happening with Arsenal in the last week or so, besides the ongoing Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City stories. Just yesterday it was reported that a fee (25 million pounds) had been agreed and a he was given a work permit for the move. Now though it seems there has been a snag, and Adebayor has asked City for a little bit more time to think if this is the right move for him. Financially it certainly has to be, as he'd be making much more money there than he ever would at Arsenal. However, he doesn't want to be seen as greedy back in Togo, where apparently Arsenal is much more popular than Manchester City (go figure).
Everyone is eagerly awaiting this deal getting done, because nobody wants Adebayor at Arsenal it seems. And while I think 25 million for him is good business for us, I don't think he was nearly as bad for the club as most people think. I've compared him side by side with RvP, who everyone loves, in the past. Adebayor has been a more accomplished goal scorer for Arsenal, a player who manages to be in the side much more, and has lead the line on his own countless times. Sure, sometimes it looked like he was being lazy, but Bendtner looks the same way running around up top on his own. He's also been criticized for everything from being offsides too much, to missing easy chances, to kissing the badge on his shirt. (which almost every player does at some time or another) He's taken more stick from Arsenal fans than anyone I can remember that has played for this club. So why on earth would you expect him to be loyal? Can you blame him for wanting to display his talents somehwere that they might actually be appreciated? If your own fans aren't even going to cheer for you that isn't exactly a motivating factor. Do you think it's coincidence that players that the fans have loved over the years have stayed longer? If I felt like I was getting no love from my own club's fans despite scoring 30 goals in a season then I would want to be somewhere else too. So yeah, he may be a bit greedy, but it's no different than anyone that came from a poor background and made it out. Wanting to get paid for your craft isn't wrong, so yeah, when you combine the money and the fans giving him so much shit, I can't blame Adebayor one bit.
As for his potential replacement, Marouane Chamakh, he's biding his time and waiting for an offer. Sunderland is interested, as well as Arsenal, and I would expect a bid to be tabled for him should the Adebayor move go through."I have good contacts from clubs and the possibility to join a Premier League club. I will take my time because there is some very interesting interest and I have to make the best choice."
I don't really watch Bordeaux, but I'll expect he's a pretty good player or else Arsene wouldn't want to sign him. Either way, when we're getting in 25 million and only spending 7 million for the replacement, it should leave us lots of cash so spend on a defensive midfielder.
That's about all I've got to talk about today. I'm going to go drink some coffee, eat some goldfish, then go to the gym in a little bit. Boom, outta here.

Ade hasn't accomplished anything yet ast summer he tried to hold us for ransom until Wenger doubled his wages - which he did. Then after earning double and becoming a high earner in the club, he talks about Milan - yes I'm sure we drove him to that by paying him more money when he didn't deserve it. All year long he's been eyeing a move away. As unpredictable as fans may be they aren't completely without rationale and Ade's behaviour has more than shown that he deserves all the stick he gets. He's one of the highest paid players on the team, yet he wants more money and for doing what exactly? The fact that you can wear the Arsenal shirt and then say you like other clubs belittles our own and shows very little respect to our history and achievements. I fully acknowledge Milan as one of the best clubs in history, but Arsenal aren't without their own merits, but Ade doesn't see it.
What do you mean he hasn't accomplished anything? He led the line by himself for most of the season before last and scored 30 goals. That's nothing? He deserved a raise for that. And no, he didn't have a good year last year, but it's one bad year, every player has them. He didn't grow up an Arsenal fan like us, so it's not like it's the only club he can imagine playing for. No he shouldn't talk about other clubs while he's under contract with Arsenal, but to say he's accomplished nothing is just ridiculous.
i totaly agree! he seems like a very honest and dicent person who has commited to arsenal for 3 years now but he still has not won any trophies! you can not all believe that he is the only striker for arsenal and he should score all the goals. infact he is not far away from RvP for last season. if ade didnt score that overhead kick for arsenal, we wouldnt have even got to the semi finals. so all you stingy fucking bloody paki arsenal fans, i say you should fucking fuck off and support another team who doesnt care for any team or any fucking player!!! All you fucking people want is for a fucking player to score every fucking game and if not, just fuck off!!!!!
I'll say it again - Ade has accomplished nothing. No trophies, no accolades. Fergie and Wenger are two of the best in the business and they know when it's time to cash in a player, even if they're the best player in the team or in the world. Adebayor was a disease that was rotting the fabric of the dressing room and the unecessary distractions he brought to the club are not worth his ability. Ade was a nobody rotting at Monaco before Wenger made him a household name and this is how he gets paid back? Disrespecting the club by saying Milan are the footballing equivalent of Beyonce. No player is bigger than the club and Arsenal will be a stronger unit and a better club without him.
completely agree with this article.
I'm sorry to see him go. It seems like Arsenal and Ade were just not meant to get along.
What other player could score a winner at Old Trafford one year, then score 30 goals the next (including the goal of the season at WHL) and still hang by a thread with supporters?
Oh well, I just hope we sign a striker who is prepared to play from the get go. RVP's injury history scares me to death, and I'm still not inclined to count on Eduardo after all he has been through.
Good article. The Ade-bashing is so tiring and just reflects the fickleness of too many Arsenal supporters
Glad to see there are still some sensible Arsenal fans out there. yeah he has his problems, but so did the great one TH14. Ade got us to the CL semi-final, beat United by himself twice, and had a 30 goal season. He doesn't deserve what some fans give him.
I'm don't think most Arsenal fans would want to get rid of Adebayor if it wasn't for his attitude.
I've supported Ade throughout, but there comes a point when you have to decide if he's worth having around.
A good player no doubt, but good for Arsenal? I doubt.
come on guys he is a twat, everyone knows this. Its not his ability or goals scored its his attitude that makes most arsenal fans want him out. Time to cash in.
I am disappointed by the way he's performed this season, as in 2007-08 I felt he always worked hard even if he wasn't playing well. That hasn't been the case this season and that's the only reason I'm disappointed - I'm happy with players who have bad years. I mean, neither Ljungberg nor Bergkamp did anything between 1999 and 2001 and no-one expected them to return with a vengeance the way they did in the Double season. No-one except Wenger, maybe! But even though I don't think Adebayor has done himself justice in the past year, I don't like it when fans get on the back of a particular player because it is counterproductive. I am a season ticket holder in block 7 and whilst some of my neighbours get behind the team, others pick a player they don't like, explode with anger every time they dare touch the ball, and sit in silence the rest of the time. It isn't working for the team! I think Adebayor's behaviour last season shows that he doesn't want to play for Arsenal. In that case, we should sell him, and good luck to him. But I don't think Arsenal fans give our players many chances.
I think Ade was one of the best strikers of the ball in an arsenal shirt. I dont know who will mark him when we play city.
However his attitude stunk and I would say he needed to go for his sake and for the club's sake.
I cant see Fab4 going to City so I expect Ade to struggle there.
I am happy he is gone-or going but we need a smarter and more accurate palyer to replace him. Maroune Chamack seems to be a quiet man and may add value to a tired dressing room.
25million seems large enough to secure Chamack and an experienced DM like Melo or Inler. But hey Wenger knows!
I agree completely. He was reliable and his laziness has been greatly overestimated. I can't blame him for going for the money. Who wouldn't leave his or her job for a pay raise like that?
He might struggle at City, I imagine it's really Santa Cruz who will have a hard time getting a match.
